THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a deep-rooted love for family law, Ashley's current legal practice revolves around various aspects of family-related matters. She focuses a majority of her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, divorce property distribution, child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues, step-parent and private party adoptions, as well as concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since 2019, assisting parties in helping them resolve their disputes without the needing to litigate or court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to avoid the court process and litigation.

After completing her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This proved her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship program, working with prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to be being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Then, in 2014, she returned to her home town of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, further enhancing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases involving child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at from their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to fighting social injustice transcended her legal career as she served as an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to increase awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017 she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law including divorce, custody and child maintenance, as well as guardianships and financial and estate planning - wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy – and mediation.

Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC with the intention of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
