Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice revolves around various aspects of family law. She concentrates a large portion of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes the distribution of marital property child custody battles child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, enforcement and post-divorce issues, step-parent and private party adoptions, as well as concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as wills, trusts, probate and estate administration along with commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since the year. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private matters as well as court-appointed mediation for those who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrated her commitment to scholarship and legal research.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to be a clerk for Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, increasing her knowledge of the local legal landscape. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. The primary goal of the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters dealing with child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who had suffered neglect or abuse at the parent or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice went beyond her legal profession when she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness regarding human trafficking within the tri-state region.
In 2017 she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law – divorce, custody and child maintenance, as well as guardianships – as well as financial and estate planning, wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC with the intention of providing a personalized approach to every client's requirements.
