Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family law. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division, child custody battles and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement matters as well as step-parent adoptions, private adoptions for parties as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills, probate and estate administration as well as commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes as well as court-appointed mediation for those who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. During her time in law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
Ashley began her clerkship path after completing her law degree. She worked for distinguished jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown, Maryland, to serve as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her main focus at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of neglect or abuse at parent or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice went beyond her legal profession as she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.
In 2017 she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law, including divorce, custody, child maintenance and guardianships and financial and estate planning - wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies – and mediation.
Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with an intention to provide an individual approach to each client's needs.
